What is covered under a third party only van insurance policy?

Third Party Only van insurance policies (Also referred to as TPO), is usually the lowest level of cover it is possible to purchase in the UK. It covers damage caused to any third party and their property.

Van insurance companies deem a third party to be anyone other than the driver involved in a claim.

The easiest way to describe what is covered under a Third Party Only van insurance policy is to provide an example. If John has taken out a Third Party Only van insurance policy and then crashes into a car, then John’s van insurance company will be liable to pay for repairs to the car John crashes into and any injury or medical treatment to passengers in either vehicle. Any damage to John’s van will not be covered by his van insurance company.

There is never an excess to pay on a TPO van insurance policy in the event of a claim.
