VAN BUYERS GUIDE

There are many different types of commercial vehicles on the road. When you are looking to buy one there are many considerations you will need to make. Your choice could have a huge bearing on how much you have to pay for your van insurance.

Before you make the decision to buy, consider the following:

Is the van the right size for my needs? A larger van may mean that you can potentially carry more things, but generally the larger the van, the larger the van insurance quote.

Do I need a specialist type of vehicle? Your work may require you to carry frozen food or transport large loads of sand or aggregate. If this is the case, then probably a standard van would not be the right choice for you. Use the guide that follows to try and make the correct choice, but remember that the more specialist the vehicle, the more specialist the van insurance policy you may need to cover it.

Once you have decided on the type of vehicle, your next consideration should be what make and model are you going to go for? The majority of car manufacturers in the UK also make commercial vehicles. Most of these vehicles can be grouped together by size and as a result you will find that van insurance quotes for similar size vehicles will generally be the same regardless of manufacturer.

VW Van Insurance

Despite not having as large a range of vehicles as some of it's competitors, Volkswagen still offer a range that should be suitable for most people. The smallest of the range is the Caddy van. This is based on the Golf and boasts the very reliable VW engine. As you would expect, the design of the cabin is highly efficient and provides the user with a comfortable ride. Those requiring a bit more space and comfort should consider the larger Caddy Maxi. This sits between car derived and panel van size and is available in a few different seating options to provide a bit more versatility.

VW also produce two different panel vans. The Transporter is slightly smaller than the Crafter, but still provides a large load bay and use the same engine as the Caddy. Those needing as much space as possible should consider the Crafter. This giant has numerous body styles and will swallow virtually any load. As the most recent addition to the range, the Crafter contains lots of little gadgets and gizmos that will probably filter down to the other vans in the range over the next few years.

Despite the Crafter being very new to the market, most van insurers already have the full range on their system, so you should have little problem when you try and obtain a van insurance quote.
