VAN BUYERS GUIDE

There are many different types of commercial vehicles on the road. When you are looking to buy one there are many considerations you will need to make. Your choice could have a huge bearing on how much you have to pay for your van insurance.

Before you make the decision to buy, consider the following:

Is the van the right size for my needs? A larger van may mean that you can potentially carry more things, but generally the larger the van, the larger the van insurance quote.

Do I need a specialist type of vehicle? Your work may require you to carry frozen food or transport large loads of sand or aggregate. If this is the case, then probably a standard van would not be the right choice for you. Use the guide that follows to try and make the correct choice, but remember that the more specialist the vehicle, the more specialist the van insurance policy you may need to cover it.

Once you have decided on the type of vehicle, your next consideration should be what make and model are you going to go for? The majority of car manufacturers in the UK also make commercial vehicles. Most of these vehicles can be grouped together by size and as a result you will find that van insurance quotes for similar size vehicles will generally be the same regardless of manufacturer.

Vauxhall Van Insurance

Vauxhall have really made sure they have covered all bases with their commercial vehicle range by releasing a total of 5 different models to cover any shape and size combination that a potential customer could come up with.

At the bottom of the size scale is the Corsa van. This little van is great for city driving as it is easily manoeuvrable and is great for zipping through traffic. If you need a little more room, then the Astravan and Combo would both provide a good option. As they are based on the astra car, you can expect a good level of refinement and equipment. Vauxhall even cater for those looking for a little more performance from their van by offering the Astravan in a model called the Sportive. In addition to the standard kit, the Sportive includes a body kit and other styling options that sets it aside from the rest of the car derived vans available on the market. If you do opt for the Sportive then make sure you tell any companies you try and obtain a van insurance quote from. This will make sure you have an accurate price and are fully insured in the event of a claim.

The other two models that complete the range are the Vivaro and the Movano. Both are panel vans designed to compete with the Transit van and provide the usual size of load bay that you would expect from a van in this class. The smaller Vivaro is available in a number of different models including it's own version of the Sportive range. It's bigger brother, the Movano, is available in a mind boggling 28 different combinations of seats, wheelbases, roof heights, and body types. With all of this choice, there literally is something for everyone!
