VAN BUYERS GUIDE

There are many different types of commercial vehicles on the road. When you are looking to buy one there are many considerations you will need to make. Your choice could have a huge bearing on how much you have to pay for your van insurance.

Before you make the decision to buy, consider the following:

Is the van the right size for my needs? A larger van may mean that you can potentially carry more things, but generally the larger the van, the larger the van insurance quote.

Do I need a specialist type of vehicle? Your work may require you to carry frozen food or transport large loads of sand or aggregate. If this is the case, then probably a standard van would not be the right choice for you. Use the guide that follows to try and make the correct choice, but remember that the more specialist the vehicle, the more specialist the van insurance policy you may need to cover it.

Once you have decided on the type of vehicle, your next consideration should be what make and model are you going to go for? The majority of car manufacturers in the UK also make commercial vehicles. Most of these vehicles can be grouped together by size and as a result you will find that van insurance quotes for similar size vehicles will generally be the same regardless of manufacturer.

Toyota Van Insurance

As viewers of BBC's Top Gear will testify, Toyota produce a pick-up truck that is virtually indestructible. This vehicle is of course the Hi-lux. We have all watched in amazement as Jeremy Clarkson et al have crashed, smashed and burned an early model and even driven one to the North Pole and sailed one across the channel to France! These impressive vehicles are tough enough to handle anything your work can throw at it.

Current models are a lot more luxurious and user friendly than the models that surfaced in the 80's. They boast many of the refinements that you will find in a lot of lifestyle pick-ups, but combine that with over 20 years experience in manufacturing this type of vehicle. The result is a vehicle that many people feel is a class leader. When you are looking for commercial vehicle insurance quotes for your Hi-lux, your job will be a lot easier than a few years ago. Many of the insurers didn't used to have the “special editions” on their systems meaning that it was hard to obtain an accurate insurance quote. As these vehicles are more common now, it has become a lot easier to obtain a quote.

Toyota also produce a panel van along side the Hi-lux. The Hi-Ace boasts a tight turning circle, and highly impressive engines and is a great van for the city if you need a little extra space. The designers have really gone to town when designing storage space for the cabin, with every possible nook and cranny used to maximum effect. For example, the back of the passenger seat drops down to reveal a handy document storage box complete with removable clip board.
