VAN BUYERS GUIDE

There are many different types of commercial vehicles on the road. When you are looking to buy one there are many considerations you will need to make. Your choice could have a huge bearing on how much you have to pay for your van insurance.

Before you make the decision to buy, consider the following:

Is the van the right size for my needs? A larger van may mean that you can potentially carry more things, but generally the larger the van, the larger the van insurance quote.

Do I need a specialist type of vehicle? Your work may require you to carry frozen food or transport large loads of sand or aggregate. If this is the case, then probably a standard van would not be the right choice for you. Use the guide that follows to try and make the correct choice, but remember that the more specialist the vehicle, the more specialist the van insurance policy you may need to cover it.

Once you have decided on the type of vehicle, your next consideration should be what make and model are you going to go for? The majority of car manufacturers in the UK also make commercial vehicles. Most of these vehicles can be grouped together by size and as a result you will find that van insurance quotes for similar size vehicles will generally be the same regardless of manufacturer.

Fiat Van Insurance

Like a lot of the larger manufacturers, Fiat have produced a large range of commercial vehicles. Their current range numbers four different sizes of vehicle, ranging from the very small to the very large./p>

The baby of the range is the Grande Punto. Based on the car of the same name, the van offers a reasonable size payload for a small van, together with a standard mesh bulkhead to protect the driver from any load that may shift during travel. The van is very nippy in traffic and has a surprising level of comfort. Fiat claim that it truly feels car like to drive. If you obtain a van insurance quote for the Punto, you will tend to find it to be slightly cheaper than a larger van.

Moving up a size we have the Doblo Cargo. This van has been produced to maximise the payload it can provide and has great height in the rear. In addition, the wheel arches are widely spaced and the loading height is fairly low, meaning that this van is very easy to use. The driving cabin has also been designed to maximise space and provides lots of places to store your bits and pieces together with a dash mounted gear stick to free up some leg room.

The Scudo has been around for several years and has always attracted rave reviews from it's users. It has recently been updated and like the Doblo has been developed to make the most of the space available. The load space and cabin have been designed to be easy to use and it again makes use of several innovations to make the drivers life easier.

Fiat's Ducato is available in Gross Weights up to 4 tons. Again, the load space is huge due to the same design features as the rest of the Fiat range and the powerful engines make it's performance equally impressive. Drivers benefit from an even roomier cabin and a driving position created to make the van as easy to handle as possible.

When considering the larger vans in the Fiat range, it is important to note that they tend to be slightly more expensive to insure than the smaller vans in the range.
